Stripy yarn

I have been dyeing stripy sock yarn for 6 months now
and it's proving very popular.

Stripy yarn is so handy, you get stripy socks
without having to do all the ends!

A couple of weeks ago I dyed some 8ply merino stripy.

And I have now had a little play with making fingerless mittens.
They are still lacking the thumb part, but they will soon be finished.

I will have them ready-made and as a kit (yarn and pattern),
if you would like to knit your own ones.

Blendy knits again

I’m going to Wellington on Friday and I’m looking forward to
a very exciting weekend. On Saturday it’s time for Craft2.0.

At the Atrium, Chaffers Dock Building, Herd Street,
Wellington City. We will be open 10–4.

But there is more! The very clever Belinda Too from Blendy Knits
is releasing her latest book, Blendy Knits Again, at Craft2.0!

As a special bonus issue, pre-Craft2.0 event, come along to the
Blendy Knits Book Launch Party on Friday night and be the first
to buy this great new knitting book, which features 25 patterns for
hats, legwarmers, fingerless gloves, socks, lace scarves cardigans.

Blendy Knits Book Launch Party
Friday Oct 28 4:30pm – 8:30pm
Paramount Theatre – by the bar

Not only can you lay your hands on the new book, I will be there
so that you can get some yarn for your knitting! The two patterns
below are made from Happy-go-knitty hand-dyed cotton.
My sock yarn is not featured in the book (it’s too new!)
but of course you can use it for the patterns in the book.

Craft 2.0

I’m super excited about going to Wellington
and Craft 2.0 this weekend!

You can read my profile here

Below are some new things I will pack in my suitcase
Beaded merino cuffs with some spanking new patterns

Many people have asked about beaded fingerless mittens.
Be quick – I will only have three pairs!

Some new stripy merino cuffs

Brand new colours of the hand-dyed cotton

Flower brooches

The yummy 8ply merino/possum in two new colours

And last but not least, super soft 12ply core spun wool.
One skein is enough for a scarf!

See you this Saturday in Wellington!

Mittens and beanie

Tomorrow it's time for Devonport Craft Market again.
I have been very busy lately, creating a piece of art for Amnesty International
(click here to see it) so I haven’t got a lot of new things for the market.

But I have made a few pairs of fingerless mittens.

And at the market last month, a lady asked me if I could make her
a blue and purple merino beanie. She gave me no more directions to follow,
so I hope she will like it. I think it’s really cool!

My day at the market

When I woke up this morning it was torrential rain...
So I went to Devonport Craft Market with very low expectations on sales
but a good day, socialising with all my crafty friends.

But to my big surprise I had good sales! And I got an order.
And some Devo friends dared the rain and came around.
So I have had a great day today!
Now I’m gonna put my feet up with a cuppa.

50g balls of Happy-go-knitty hand-dyed cotton yarn

And 5g balls to add some stripes. Or for decoration.
I have had customers buying them simply because they’re cute!

Why not buy a beanie kit and make your own beanie?

Green fingers

I received an order for a pair of fingerless mittens so tonight I delivered
these green mittens with sparkles. They are a gift for a lady who works
at a garden centre. I know that they will keep her hands warm and
it looks like they will make her fingers greener!

Fingerless mittens

I’m doing the Mother’s Day market in Parnell tomorrow
and I will have a new product with me – fingerless mittens.

I have extended the cuff and knitted with a thicker wool.
So far I have only had time to make three pairs, but there will be more!
