Wanna learn how to bead-knit?

I'm going to teach bead-knitting at Handmade in Wellington.
I will do two classes – one on Saturday 1 June and one on Sunday 2 June.
I don't know the time yet but the programme for Handmade will be published on 26 March and then you can go in and book all the classes you would like to take!

In my class you will learn how to bead-knit and we will make a brooch
just like the ones below.

and Craft 2.0 this weekend!

You can read my profile here

Below are some new things I will pack in my suitcase
Beaded merino cuffs with some spanking new patterns

Many people have asked about beaded fingerless mittens.
Be quick – I will only have three pairs!

Some new stripy merino cuffs

Brand new colours of the hand-dyed cotton

Flower brooches

The yummy 8ply merino/possum in two new colours

And last but not least, super soft 12ply core spun wool.
One skein is enough for a scarf!

See you this Saturday in Wellington!

Super Mario necklace

I have some busy days coming up and I’m really excited about it!

Saturday 6 Nov – Xmas market in St Heliers
This market actually starts on Friday night with Champagne shopping! Nice!
Unfortunately I can’t make it, but I will be there on Saturday.

Sunday 7 Nov – Devonport Craft Market
It’s going to be huge this time and there will be lots of funky stuff.
Don’t miss out!

Monday 8 Nov – Society of Brilliant Ideas
It’s Auckland Art Week and the creative collective SOIB will have an open night
in conjunction with Rakinos. Art exhibtion combined with craft market,
it can’t get much better!

For times and locations, please look in the left column.

I have some new stuff to show you,
they will all be at the markets.

Super Mario necklace – embroidered with hand-dyed cotton.

Skull necklace – embroidered with hand-dyed cotton,
with lots of sparkles on the crown.

Knitted flowers – the two finished ones are brooches but I’m considering
putting the unfinished one on a chain and make it a necklace.
Knitted with hand-dyed cotton.

Bead-knitted bracelets – once again my hand-dyed cotton

Skull brooch

Yep, yet another brooch ready
- a skull with silver beaded teeth.

Isn’t he kinda cute with the fluffy border?
Looks like he’s wearing a fluffy hoodie!
He could be one of the characters in South Park!

My creative space

So what have I been up to this week?

Well, I have finished three brooches:

Hello Kitty

Space Invaders

Oooops...

Still have to finish the merino cuffs with skulls...

...and the new ones with a frill. I really like this new pattern!

And I’m working on a beanie, made of my hand-dyed cotton

Ooops, too late...

For a long time I’ve been planning to join My creative space.
A website where crafters show what they are working on every Thursday.
I like it!

This morning I took some photos but I didn’t have time to blog them.
I sat down to do it tonight and... ooops... it was to late...
The collection had already closed...

Next Thursday I will get up earlier in the morning. Today I create my own

My creative space

I’m working on an embroidered Hello Kitty
that I will turn into a brooch

I’m knitting another ring. There will be heaps of them at the next market!
Thanks MiA for the tip and thanks Sofia for sharing the idea!

And I’m knitting yet another pair of cuffs. They look really boring so far, I know,
but they will get a frill at the end that will be finished with golden beads. Cute!

These WIPs will be finished and for sale at the next market

Space invaders

I love space invaders!
So I came up with the idea to bead-knit them on cuffs.
Pretty cool, eh!

Black merino cuffs with silver beads

Another one soon to be finished

I’m doing a market in Royal Oak tomorrow.
I have heard that it’s a great market with a wonderful atmosphere
so I’m really excited!

I have finished some new products for the market and yes,
the space invaders are coming along as well!

Black merino cuffs with silver beads

Black merino cuffs with golden sparkly beads

Black merino cuffs with turqoise sparkly beads

And some new pretty flowers on hair clips and hair ties,
made of my hand-dyed cotton yarn

I have also made a treat for myself.
A bright, funky flower brooch for my hot pink coat!

Proudly presenting...

...embroidered and beaded brooches!

Yes, these are what I’ve been working on lately.
I have only made four pieces so far but have heaps of ideas.
Time is not really on my side though... As usual...

My day at the market

When I woke up this morning it was torrential rain...
So I went to Devonport Craft Market with very low expectations on sales
but a good day, socialising with all my crafty friends.

But to my big surprise I had good sales! And I got an order.
And some Devo friends dared the rain and came around.
So I have had a great day today!
Now I’m gonna put my feet up with a cuppa.

50g balls of Happy-go-knitty hand-dyed cotton yarn

And 5g balls to add some stripes. Or for decoration.
I have had customers buying them simply because they’re cute!

Why not buy a beanie kit and make your own beanie?

Soft and warm merino/alpaca cuffs

New stock

I did my first market for the season yesterday – Devonport Craft market.
It was so much fun to catch up with old friends, I did some pretty good sales
and I got an order. Yay!

Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera so I couldn’t take any photos of my table...
I have a new very cool display but I can’t show you this time.
At least I took some photos the day before the market.

Soft and warm merino cuffs.

Beadknitted cuffs in merino or alpacka.

27 beanies made of my handdyed cotton.

Flowers galore!
The double flowers at the top are rings and brooches.
The single ones hair clips and hair ties.

Well, my hand isn’t that pretty but the ring is cool, eh!
