Now on Felt

I’m so excited – I have finally started up my own shop on Felt!

Never heard of Felt? It’s a brilliant web shop where NZ crafters
and designers can list their products. So if you’re looking for a cool,
handmade gift or treat – this is the place to go!

So far there is yarn and brooches for sale in my shop,
but more to come. Stay tuned!

Happy couple

I have spent many hours lately working on two pieces for an exhibition.
It’s called ‘Vantage Point’ and it’s the annual member’s exhibition
at Depot Artspace here in Devonport.

My pieces are beadknitted on hand-dyed cotton and the diptych is called
Happy Couple

Yes, these are what I’ve been working on lately.
I have only made four pieces so far but have heaps of ideas.
Time is not really on my side though... As usual...

WIP

I’m spending a lot of time at the moment, thinking of
new products to make of my wonderful hand-dyed cotton yarn.
I’m working on something new, here is a sneak peak.

Mittens and beanie

Tomorrow it's time for Devonport Craft Market again.
I have been very busy lately, creating a piece of art for Amnesty International
(click here to see it) so I haven’t got a lot of new things for the market.

But I have made a few pairs of fingerless mittens.

And at the market last month, a lady asked me if I could make her
a blue and purple merino beanie. She gave me no more directions to follow,
so I hope she will like it. I think it’s really cool!

My day at the market

When I woke up this morning it was torrential rain...
So I went to Devonport Craft Market with very low expectations on sales
but a good day, socialising with all my crafty friends.

But to my big surprise I had good sales! And I got an order.
And some Devo friends dared the rain and came around.
So I have had a great day today!
Now I’m gonna put my feet up with a cuppa.

50g balls of Happy-go-knitty hand-dyed cotton yarn

And 5g balls to add some stripes. Or for decoration.
I have had customers buying them simply because they’re cute!

Why not buy a beanie kit and make your own beanie?

To market

I’m doing the Devonport Craft Market tomorrow.
It’ll be the first time I bring my hand-dyed cotton yarn, so that will be interesting.

I have made some new merino cuffs.
The beads on the 3rd pair are blue but it doesn’t show in this photo...

I hope to have finished this pair too...

I have bought alpaca yarn from some alpaca breeders outside Christchurch.
It’s 80% alpaca and 20% wool which makes it strong but still really soft and nice.
I have to use 2mm needles though to make the cuffs tight enough, so it’s quite fiddly...
