The Blue Dreambird

I have finished my blue Dreambird shawl and I’m so pleased with it!
It’s knitted with my hand-dyed 4ply merino/silk/nylon.
I like the feel of it, it’s quite firm and it's got a nice weight to it.

I LOVE my new shawl!

I'm very pleased with the new Happy-go-knitty Rainbow range!

I'm going to KAN (Knit August Night) in Napier next Thursday for a 3 day long knitters retreat. The rainbow yarn I have got at the moment is for taking to KAN. Feedback on facebook on this yarn was amazing with lots of requests so I have started a booking list for the next dye lot. Feel free to contact me if you would like to pre-book some yarn. In the next dye lot I will probably make kits of BFL and alpaca/silk as well.

Wow – photos

Wonders of Wool was such a busy market, I didn't have time to take photos until half-way through so lots of goodies are already missing here.

Still – here are some photos from Happy-go-knitty's stall at Wonders of Wool, Wellington Underground market.

Enjoy!

Remember the yarn I dyed for Kiwiyarns a while ago? She has finished her socks now and they look fab!!

Made of Happy-go-knitty self-striping BFL sock yarn.

Today was ANZAC day here in NZ. What can you do on an extra day off work? Dye yarn of course! This was the last dye lot before I go to Wonders of Wool next weekend. I will bring heaps of stock!

Here are some samples of the new skeins.

Beautiful blues

I received an email from Mia, who has knitted both self-striping and colour changing socks with Happy-go-knitty yarn. Pretty cool, I reckon!

Yummy, stripy socks

My daughter loves green and purple. She has asked me for a pair of stripy socks so when I dyed the ones for Kiwiyarns, I dyed a skein for her as well.

Lucky her clever auntie MiA is here for a visit, since I don't knit socks!

They're pretty yummy, or what do you think!

I made a dream come true!

I received an email a while ago from the lovely Kiwiyarns. She had had a dream about green and purple stripy yarn and she asked if I could help her make the dream come true.

You can read her post here. It gives me the warm fuzzies! I'm so happy to hear that you like it, WS!

11 out of 10

I’m so very pleased with my colour changing BFL  yarn!

The yarn below is for socks. I have dyed it double stranded so it will give two identical socks! And the first 3–4 meters, when pulled from the centre, is a different colour to give a nice edge at the top of the sock. You can of course use it for wrist warmers, mittens or similar projects as well.

I think this yarn is so funky, I will proudly rate it 11 out of 10.  :)

What do you reckon?

I have listed the yarn in my felt shop together with the colour changing for shawls and some new self-striping. Click the images below to check them out.

Tadaah!

In the holidays I did my first experiments with yarn blanks. I sent the yarn to my sister who knitted some sock samples for me and here they are!

Two examples of the very cool effects you can get when dyeing blanks. The blank was double thread which means you get identical socks! And as you can see, 100grams is enough for a pair of socks and you can make them longer if you like.

Pretty neat, eh?

Stay tuned for my next dye lot, this time it's 100% BFL sock yarn and it came out just amazing!! I'm winding it up now and will post photos very soon.

Stripes for tiny feet

Remember Alice's funky, stripy socks a few posts ago?
She has now used some leftover yarn to make the cutest little baby socks!
Both pairs from one skein of Happy-go-knitty self-striping BFL sock yarn.

Babies can have colourful stripy socks too!
