Love the shot!

I’m so busy at the moment – frantically knitting, creating some cool kits,
sorting funky packaging and much more for the upcoming Xmas markets.

Thanks to my lovely hubby and two gorgeous models, I managed to sort
some great photos the other day. They will be used for some packaging and...
well, other things!

This is the main photo, I love it.

Thanks R and M, you did a great job!

Skull necklace – embroidered with hand-dyed cotton,
with lots of sparkles on the crown.

Knitted flowers – the two finished ones are brooches but I’m considering
putting the unfinished one on a chain and make it a necklace.

My creative space

I have taken a couple of days off work to extend the long weekend.
5 days off in total, yay! I will spend as much time as possible
working on all my crafts for the upcoming markets.

Bracelets that need to be finished

And I’m knitting some more bracelets!

Beaded merino cuffs to be finished

And I’m knitting some more cuffs as well!

Yesterday I received a package in the mail. It was from my lovely sister MiA.
She is the most creative person I know and she’s amazingly talented!
She sent me this stunning yarn that she has spun herself. Isn’t she clever?
I know I should have taken the photo while they were still on the beautiful skeins,
but I was too keen to get them ready for knittting!

Check out MiA’s blog, it’s fantastic!

Skull brooch

Yep, yet another brooch ready
- a skull with silver beaded teeth.

Isn’t he kinda cute with the fluffy border?
Looks like he’s wearing a fluffy hoodie!
He could be one of the characters in South Park!

My creative space

So what have I been up to this week?

Well, I have finished three brooches:

Hello Kitty

Space Invaders

Oooops...

Still have to finish the merino cuffs with skulls...

...and the new ones with a frill. I really like this new pattern!

And I’m working on a beanie, made of my hand-dyed cotton

Ooops, too late...

For a long time I’ve been planning to join My creative space.
A website where crafters show what they are working on every Thursday.
I like it!

This morning I took some photos but I didn’t have time to blog them.
I sat down to do it tonight and... ooops... it was to late...
The collection had already closed...

Next Thursday I will get up earlier in the morning. Today I create my own

My creative space

I’m working on an embroidered Hello Kitty
that I will turn into a brooch

I’m knitting another ring. There will be heaps of them at the next market!
Thanks MiA for the tip and thanks Sofia for sharing the idea!

And I’m knitting yet another pair of cuffs. They look really boring so far, I know,
but they will get a frill at the end that will be finished with golden beads. Cute!

These WIPs will be finished and for sale at the next market

Golden skulls

Well, the space invaders went down really well,
so I decided to continue exploring some new patterns.

Golden skulls

And I reused this Inca-inspired pattern,
that I knitted many (oh, so many...) years ago.

Space invaders

I love space invaders!
So I came up with the idea to bead-knit them on cuffs.
Pretty cool, eh!

Black merino cuffs with silver beads

Another one soon to be finished

I’m doing a market in Royal Oak tomorrow.
I have heard that it’s a great market with a wonderful atmosphere
so I’m really excited!

I have finished some new products for the market and yes,
the space invaders are coming along as well!

Black merino cuffs with silver beads

Black merino cuffs with golden sparkly beads

Black merino cuffs with turqoise sparkly beads

And some new pretty flowers on hair clips and hair ties,
made of my hand-dyed cotton yarn

I have also made a treat for myself.
A bright, funky flower brooch for my hot pink coat!

Now on Felt

I’m so excited – I have finally started up my own shop on Felt!

Never heard of Felt? It’s a brilliant web shop where NZ crafters
and designers can list their products. So if you’re looking for a cool,
handmade gift or treat – this is the place to go!

So far there is yarn and brooches for sale in my shop,
but more to come. Stay tuned!

Happy couple

I have spent many hours lately working on two pieces for an exhibition.
It’s called ‘Vantage Point’ and it’s the annual member’s exhibition
at Depot Artspace here in Devonport.

My pieces are beadknitted on hand-dyed cotton and the diptych is called
Happy Couple

I have only made four pieces so far but have heaps of ideas.
Time is not really on my side though... As usual...

I’m working on something new, here is a sneak peak.

Mittens and beanie

Tomorrow it's time for Devonport Craft Market again.
I have been very busy lately, creating a piece of art for Amnesty International
(click here to see it) so I haven’t got a lot of new things for the market.

But I have made a few pairs of fingerless mittens.

And at the market last month, a lady asked me if I could make her
a blue and purple merino beanie. She gave me no more directions to follow,
so I hope she will like it. I think it’s really cool!

My day at the market

When I woke up this morning it was torrential rain...
So I went to Devonport Craft Market with very low expectations on sales
but a good day, socialising with all my crafty friends.

But to my big surprise I had good sales! And I got an order.
And some Devo friends dared the rain and came around.
So I have had a great day today!
Now I’m gonna put my feet up with a cuppa.

50g balls of Happy-go-knitty hand-dyed cotton yarn

And 5g balls to add some stripes. Or for decoration.
I have had customers buying them simply because they’re cute!

Why not buy a beanie kit and make your own beanie?
